A simple pour-over recipe for beginners
Pour-over looks fussy, but a good cup needs only a scale, a kettle and a little patience. This is the recipe we use at home.
What you need
18 g of coffee, 300 g of water just off the boil, a paper filter and a dripper. Grind a little finer than for a French press — like coarse sand.
Method
Rinse the filter with hot water, then add the coffee. Pour 40 g of water and wait 30 seconds while the coffee blooms. Then pour slowly in circles until you reach 300 g, finishing at around two minutes thirty.
Adjusting
If the cup tastes sour, grind finer. If it tastes bitter or dry, grind coarser. Change one thing at a time and write down what you did.
